Mytilini
Ancient Theatre - excavated in 1953 and was known to seat 14,000 - 15,000
spectators and it has marvellous acoustics.
Menander's House - in the hora distrinct, there are some mosaic floors from the third century.
Castle -
the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean,
lived in by the Gattelouzi family.
Archeological Museum - examples of prehistoric ceramics and clay figurines. Lesvos has important archaeological wealth dating from the 3300 -1200BC.
Byzantine Art Museum - Facing the imposing church of Agios Therapon, this displays icons and treasures with deep Christian faith and the amazing dexterity of the old anonymous artists.
Folk Art Museum - examples of ceramics, furniture and clothing displaying the islnd's rich folk art is housed in the lovely refurbished old harbour office on the waterfront in Mytilini.
Theofilos Museum/ Teriade Museum - inspired folklore paintings of Theofilos can be seen in its beautiful new building located in the old port of Mytilini. The Teriade Museum in Varia, houses rare books by teriade himself and hundreds of pictures by great artists of our times.

Moria
The Roman Aquaduct - once supplied water from Mount Olympos to the town.
Molyvos
Castle - Genoese castle built on ancient foundations.
Tunnels leading down to the harbour are closed.
Art Gallery - displays work by contemporary Greek artists.
Library - houses some 9000 great manuscripts.
Petra
Vareltzidaina House
This mansion has been declared a subject of renovation.
The house's architecture is beautiful, as are the wall paintings and large historical rooms.
Kalloni/Agia Paraskevi Road
Messa
An Aeolian centre of workship,with
some remains of an Ionic temple pavilion.
Situated near the salt plains of Kalloni.
Sigri
Castle - another Genoese castle erected during the Turkish occupation.
Smaller than that a Molyvos castle.
Klopedi
Traces of an Aeolion Temple dedicated to Apollo. Situated off a trail from Agia Paraskevi village.
Ancient Pyrra
One of 5 cities Lesvos. Near Archaderi, remains can be seen of the town, destroyed by and earthquake (under water)
Ancient Makara
As Pyrra, Makara is situated at the mouth of the bay (under water)
Petrified Forest
Lesvos' oldest antiquity. Situated between
Sigri and Eressos and on the shores of the
small island Nissiopi. This was also a result
from an earthquake, which fossilised tree
trunks and leaves.
Eressos
Archaeological Museum - recently opened to show the area's examples of the Petrified Forest and other ancient artifacts.
Ypsilou (Sigri area) MOANSTERY
Limonas (Kalloni area) MONASTERY
Folklore and ecclesiastical collections, displaying the island's tradition
and way of life. These are 2 of the island's most beautiful picturesque monasteries.
